THAI 737-400 Finally All Gone?

Sun Jan 14, 2018 10:24 am

Having taken the Thai 734 service from Bangkok to Samui last summer, I check out the flight once in a while on flightaware.
Since August, TG has only operated ONE example, HS-TDG. TDF stopped flying the route and TDG was swapped in.
And TDG made the trip twice a day, every day, since then.
Until last Sunday.
There have been no flights on Thai between BKK and USM for the past seven days.

So maybe the end of Thai 737 service has finally taken place?

Anyone have any firm details?

Thai Airways doesn't have any new aircraft order for medium routes jet at all. Will Thai look for jet for medium route feeder future?

Oh good.
I hope it was indeed temporary.

While the plane (TDG) was in need of some maintenance, it was a very neat experience. And that approach to USM is something else!

Would it not make sense for Thai Smile to pick up a couple of second hand A319s for this route? Commonality for labour and parts with their 320s?

Is the TG734 pilot pool all on holidays atm? Seems a lot of infrastructure and training for two aircraft a short mid to low yield route.

I also noticed last two times I flew a cabin crew member sat in an aisle seat on the exit row for take off and landing - seat was marked for the crew only. Is this normal?
