 Insane

Now do the same comparison on flights during the week. All low fare carriers charge more for their fares at weekend/peak times. Otherwise they could not afford to offer low fares at other times.

Aer Lingus on the other hand may well offer the same or similar fare all week.

I think this time the EI fare is cheaper than FR cause you can apply the Saturday night rule.

Apples and oranges.

Look at the fare rules.

The Aer Lingus tickets are not changeable/not refundable.

The RyanAir tickets are changeable and the fares paid may be used as a credit for up to a year from date of purchase (Gee I wonder where they got that idea?)

I agree with Airblue, EI has the saturday night rule, for FR you don't book a return flight but two one-way flights. And as EAL401 already mentioned, even Ryanair can't afford to sell every seat on every flight for 5€. There must be certain flights where tickets are expensive, otherwise they could not afford to sell me my tickets HHN-BOH-HHN for 0.41€ (tax not included)  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Smile/happy/getting dizzy Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I don't think that the argument is 100% valid as Ryanair admits that flights on Fridays and Sundays are more expensive as these are the most sought after by short-break travellers. Saturday fares, however, are supposed to be cheaper, as should be weekday fares according to the Ryanair propaganda. They are not always, however. Just experienced the same when I tried to book a cheap Ryanair flight from STN to Dinard. While I expected hefty prices for the Friday outbound, I was quite surprised to find out that the Mon / Tue inbounds were in the 60-70 pounds price range, excl. tax. So you cannot always blame the Sat/Sun night rule. For me it was much cheaper to take Air France, departing from LCY.....
