What Would Allinces Be If PanAm Where Still Hear

Sat Mar 02, 2002 1:25 am

what diffreces to the current airline alliances, would there be if airlines such as pan am and twa where still the size they once where would and/or still around. would each alliance be smaller or bigger or would there be diffrent pairs whithin alliance eg twa and air france and pan am and british airways etc. or would they just be bigger whith say 2 american carrers in each alliance or would it be lots of smaller alinces whith big european carriers split up into diffrent alinces eg ba and iberia not both in oneworld or alitalia and air france not both in sky team?

anyone thanx

As with TWA, I'm not sure if Pan Am would have ended up in any major international alliances for long. Carriers looking for a U.S. partner would have started by looking for one with a strong domestic network, a weak point for PA.

Exactly my thoughts as well.

Another point: Alliances made the FRA hub DL inherited from PA obsolete: DL started codesharing with AF ex CDG and didn´t need their own planes stationned at FRA.
