Don't know of a site to listen to sounds but the if you fly on one and sit near the back next to an engine you may never hear another sound the rest of your life they are so noisy. Especially fun it you are in a window seat in the back and all you can see out your window is the engine, no sky! On the other hand, if you sit near the front you won't even hear the engines. Like the 727, an old plane but very quiet (no engine sounds) if sitting in the front.

One doesn't just hear the DC9, one feels the DC9. If you are on the ground, depending on where you are and what is going on, it is so loud that it rumbles your chest, rips you apart. Listening to too many DC9's takeoff will destroy your hearing in no time at all.

I always liked the DC-9s myself... used to fly Texas International DC9-10s and 30s to Houston, Austin and/or Corpus Christie back when and found that out-of-sync vibration one experiences, if seated in the back, to be almost hypnotic! Must have been the result of inhaling too much jet fuel fumes at such a young age!
