i know its sad to reply to your own posts but would BA ever look at operating any routes from EMA in the future as it is cheaper than the likes of MAN & BHX even though they have strong links there?

Ok BA Regional? they seem to fly from everywhere but EMA. have bmi fought them off as well? bmi suck for that but you win some and lose some i guess

its very unlikely that BA would fly from EMA, the competition on the routes would be too high. Few people would chose to pay big bucks to fly BA when they can fly half the price with GO/BMIbaby.

The only advantage BA would give would be flying to heathrow, rather than to stanstead. This would be more popular with transfering passengers i guess, but for business flights to london i think go/bmibaby will get the pax.

There is no chance of BA flights from EMA while they have a large base at BHX. You might see a franchise carrier one day, but not mainline BA. Anyway, why do you want BA to fly from EMA? They never did any favours for either BHX and MAN - they are very London orientated....

I agree with 757man, EMA definitly wont get BA mainline but perhaps a single daily or 2 daily flight to somewhere but thats also extremly unlikely as long as BHX is nearby, so Im afraid, for the moment, you will have to stick with the charters, GO, BMI BABY, BMI (for how much longer it has to be asked, especially when baby and bmi compete on the same routes, as well as Go), and cargo a/c. Yeah I wouldnt be surprised if SQ Cargo started to EMA, but havent heard anything about that.

I guess Nouvelair will be operating charter flights to Monastir from EMA.

SQ Cargo are increasing their LHR flights....and if they wanted a 3rd British airport to fly from, then don't be too surprised if MAN shunt EMA aside!

Yeah thats what I would think as well.
SQ Cargo are already operating from LHR and PIK (which is doing very well), and MAN are desperate for a/c bigger than ERJ145s (sorry, couldnt resist Big grin ) so I guess they would make sure that SQ Cargo would go to MAN and not EMA.

Would there be a demand from US cargo carriers apart from UPS to fly to EMA? Such as Northwest Cargo etc. I have seen Atlas Air in EMA a few times but i think its just not common enough. EMA is soo underworked from Pax & cargo carriers that they should be out there to look & offer new carriers good deals to fly from EMA

I wouldn't expect to see many more PAX airlines, especially scheduled. Maybe a few foreign chaters that don't already operate.

I wouldn't be surprised if ANY Cargo airline used EMA though. EMA has to be the best airport in the UK to use for cargo.
Very cheap landing fees, no slot allocation, situated in the centre of England and with what has to be the best road network possible.

Why do Cargo carriers operate into Heathrow? Shorly it makes a lot more sense to go into somewhere a bit cheaper. With fewer slots available at Heathrow airlines will have to start looking elsewhere (the reason Cathay started EMA in the first place) and EMA is the perfect choice.

If we do get more cargo into EMA though, can we have some daylight flights so that I can get some pictures!

Do you believe that MAN won't dissuade cargo airlines from operating to EMA  Wink/being sarcastic I wonder why China Airlines chose MAN (though I wouldn't be too suprised if their A340s are seen as well at MAN by 2004)

You think EMA is underused! Try coming to NCL!
Only 3.6 million pax a year!

we are still 1 mill short of 3.6 mil GKIRK but i travelled to NCL last week from STN and i never realised how easy it was to commute through.
airlines suck. they decide to pay s*&t loads for slots at LHR, landing fees which are nearly double EMA's and they can turn a 747 round in 2 1/2hrs unlike 4hrs at LHR

GKirk - if you think the pax figures are crappy at NCL, just be glad you aren't 40 miles down the road at MME !!
Now, that's what I'd class as an airport with no future at all........unless anyone knows different

Actually the extras should go to MAN (little kids should not be expanded at the expense of the parent).
