I'm back. Yes, I fly for Express Airlines I out o DTW now, ex MEM. Stil gettig use to the new terminal. Loos really nice, unfortnately the jetbridge in C concourse don' yet work, well the ground personal there don't know how to use them and there aren't enough of them actually.
es, we are running new hire classes rightnow, 2 Saab ones and I think we start a CRJ one in early April, not positive but think that's the cse. We wre told to expect 16 new hires per month till early fall, after that they have no idea, until we get official word on new deliveries they won't hire anyone else. The interview may have changed, when I went through it was 3 writtens and a 3 on 1 interview. They asked technical, personal, and situational type questions. Hard to remember exactly, was almost 2 1/2 years ago, but not confrontational, very friendly type.
As for what its lie to work here, well schedules aren't very good, especially for commuters. The bases aren't the best choices, DTW, MSP, or MEM. The equipment is great, the Saab and CRJ and fantastic aircraft tough. The people here are great, got a lot of wide ranges of experience. We hired a lot of good people last year that flew everything from Fractional companies, corporate, military, cargo, and other airlines. Unfortnately we only really hired high time people. Last year I heard our average new hire had more hours then a manline NWA new hire. We hired Captains off the street, so that helped drive up the averages. Right now few places are hiring, so I'd suspect that to remain in effect. Once other airlines start up and we have to compete for people, that'll change.
