what's the difference in between Emirates A380 F14C76Y427 & F14C76Y429?

Tue Apr 17, 2018 7:18 am

Are there actually variants of the 3 major configurations in Emirates A380 fleet i.e. F14C76Y399, F14C76Y427 and C58Y557?

it seems all these 'variants' I saw from aircraft data exist in a form or 2 extra seats or 1 less seat, e.g. F14C76Y401, F14C76Y429 or F14C76Y426, which I assume would be located on the two economy exit raws since there doesn't seem to be any other space for such 'extra' seats

so I'm curious whether these configuration actually exist, or it's just the seats installed on the airplane when they were delivered and later removed/added like extra bonus seats, or perhaps crew rest entrance, or it's something completely out of my imagination?

Don't know about F14C76Y429 version but you can check the seat map of other 3 variants here:

There are now six different A380 configurations:

399Y and 427Y were the original configurations (with/without crew rest on the main deck) before they added an extra two seats at 80A/K which created the 401Y and 429Y configurations.

More recently they shifted the crew rest area down into the cargo hold on the ULH aircraft and moved some toilets and galley space to create the 426Y configuration.

Plus there's the two class configuration.

Do we know how many of each type they're currently operating?

You will have to count them, but all the current fleet are here:

Thank you a lot for or the answer qf002! I really couldn't find this information anywhere on the web after hours of search. Much appreciated.

An additional question here is then where is the crew rest located on the 427Y? or was it a medium-haul version without pilot/crew rest at all?
trying to figure out the correct timeline and details

Yes:

3-Class A380 with Cabin Crew Rest Compartment (CCRC): F14C76Y399 is original config for fleet with CCRC in main deck. This config was then amended to add two seats (1 each LH & RH) aft of Door 4 main deck, thus you have F14C76Y401. Later on CCRC moved to cargo hold, thus you have a new config with F14C76Y426.

3-Class A380 with no CCRC: F14C76Y427 is original config for this fleet. This config was then amended to add two seats (1 each LH & RH) aft of Door 4 main deck, thus you have F14C76Y429.

2-Class A380 with no CCRC: C58Y557 original config for this fleet.

427Y doesn’t have crew rest. They’re predominantly used to Europe and near-Asia so don’t require it. As said the cabin crew rest was originally on the main deck, hence the loss of 28 seats, as 427Y and 399Y were the two original configurations. Of course that was a highly inefficient use of space.

and the last piece of the puzzle: does anyone know where the crew rest entrance and emergency hatch located on Emirates' F14J76Y426 A380s?
from the relative position of other airlines' A380 seat maps and airbus' AC drawing I suppose the entrance is at the 3rd door, right hand access, with the emergency hatch located at somewhere like 71D?

Could be same as that of Lufthansa A380, I do not think AIB offers customized solutions for such things:

(Edited) This one shows that of Thai A380:

well, after digging through seat reservation sites I found it appears there's no seat 'removed' for the emergency hatch.
I guess they could make the emergency hatch right underneath the left aisle to save room for 1 more seat perhaps?

the main difference in between the 247/249Y and 246Y is that the 246Y had its 52ABC removed with 66ABC added, while the 66HJK are removed as well, making it 3 seats less in the front
in the back the 81DEFG are added, with 88DEFG removed.

this means the galley originally located at 80DEFG is shrinked or replaced with lavatories, while another lavatory is added at 52ABC?
this will free the row 66-67 space originally occupied by 3 lavatories to facilitate the crew rest entrance location while maintaining the same number of 10 lavatories

---

for some reason 88H is not present, but this is the same as the 399Y config, probably just for other ULH operation consideration? anyone knows?

What I meant in my quoted statement I would expect AIB to offer options of underfloor CCRC’s that have already available solutions & would not customize new ones.

It could be EK adopted the Door 2 solution (in works with Lufthansa) other than Door 3 solution (in works with BA & Thai).

you certainly are right, the door 2 solution has the hatch somehow to the left which would make it right underneath the left aisle
thanks Clipper101!
