Perhaps he promised things to employees & stockholders. Now they need a new person to say / do some difficult things not in line with these promises.

Just a thought ...

He sounds like he could really do some good.from PR Newswire:

As president of Continental Express from 1995-1999, Siegel improved the unit's profit contribution by $250 million annually and led its substantial improvements in operational performance. He also negotiated the largest aircraft order at the time in the regional airline industry as the launch customer for Embraer 145/135 regional jets.

At Continental Airlines, he also served as senior vice president of planning and scheduling, where he played an instrumental role in Continental's financial and operational turnaround, and as vice president of corporate development. Prior to joining Continental, he served as director of corporate planning at Northwest Airlines. Before joining Avis, he held executive positions at Budget Group and eVolution Global Partners, a corporate venture capital firm. He began his career as a consultant at Bain & Co.

hope he does a good job bringing back financial stability to one of the worlds best airlines!

in an airticle in airways magazine they described wolf and gangwall (ceo) as people ho in their preveiws jobs in other airlines had managed to clean up the number before selling it and making a profit becouse of their stock options. the same situation happend in tiger air, republic airlnes and united. they came to USair and thid the same thing when they tried to sell it to united. it also pointed out that they were paid an avererage of one dollar for every 392 dollars in revenue wile the southwests leadership made about one dollar for every 4365 dolars in revenue even though they are the most profitable airline and USair losses money. Maybe they are leving the airline becouse they are not true leaders, just oportunist. the article is the november edition of airways magazine written in mid september (post 9/11)
If it ain't Boeing (or Embraer ;-)) I ain't Going!

He did some great things at Continental Express. His vision several years ago of an all jet fleet will take effect in 12 months. He is a numbers guy yet he does take time to keep employees in the loop. He will be a positive asset to USAirways.
Actually flown: EMB-120 EMB-145 B717 B737 B757 B767
