Window Size Question

Thu Mar 07, 2002 4:26 am

Having flown recently in a MD-11& an A340, I found the MD11’s windows to be huge in comparison to the A340. As anyone else noticed ?
Am I correct? Could someone come up with a “window’s ranking” from biggest to smallest?

The Concorde's windows are very small. The CRJ's windows are smaller than most also.

Concorde's windows are smaller due to the much higher cruising altitudes.
Weren't the original CRJ windows too low to look through?

I'd say these are rather sizeable!

I put in an post some months ago about the window size on MD-11s. I was once told by someone it has the largest windows of any commercial jetliner.

The Fokker F-27 Friendship had pretty big windows as well. I only ever did one return flight on one of those, to Jersey in the Channel Islands. It had bronze-tinted windows - I'd need to check but I think it must have been Air UK.

Compare those to the more conventional windows on the F-50.
