Last night at LGA here in NY there was a very seriuos incident.
A tower controller cleared a Beechcraft BE-90 to taxi into position on runway 31.
One minute later the same controller cleared a USair B-737 to land on the same runway 31.
The alert pilot of the Beechcraft warned the controller that he was in position on that runway but by then the USair Boeing 737 swooped in only 50ft above the Beech
and landed long on runway 31. This was very similar to the incident that happened in California not long ago.
This makes three near misses in just a week in the NY area. This is extremely serious.
Like I said last week in response to a post that said there is no need for pilots anymore, no machine would have second guessed the controller orders.
This is a very serious matter.
