YYZ March 10th...Everyone Welcome

Fri Mar 08, 2002 2:04 am

Just a reminder to everyone that we will be meeting this weekend. Same time and same place. If anyone want to get together earlier, that will be no problem.

This is the third consecutive week hopefuly. C-GRYK i know is off on special assignment, taking pictures for our "NEW" website that is under construction. As for the rest, I hope to see each and everyone of you.

So that is Threshold Aviation 2pm Sunday. Again if you need directions, please let me know gfeggi@rogers.com

Pray for good weather, NO WIND....and we will see you then....

Grant

Well, looks like tomorrow I might be flying! But I know I will wake up and the "partly" sunny part of the day would have passed already, and all I get are clouds, and lots of precipitation, and poor visibility!!! WOO HOO!!! YAY TO FLYING IN CANADA!

Anyways, do we have a consensus as to who will be showing up on Sunday? I still haven't made up my mind. I'll probably only know on Saturday  Smile

I was on TV last week. Outdoor Life Network, talking about sailing.

You didn't show the dude at Discovery Channel a pic of yourself did you Grant? That'll scare away any TV crew.

Did you get the phone numbers I sent you for the fellow at Discovery Channel?
I sent them to your rogers e-mail. Let me know, if need be I'll send them again. I spoke with him on Thursday and mentioned your group. I know he was originally planning on meeting with me next weekend, this weekend may have been to short a notice??

Cheers.

The program is called 'Tanlines', a show about Canadian beaches. Last week the show focused on the Toronto Island beaches & environs. I do alot of sailboat racing and the producers filmed at my sailing club last summer (we launch from a beach). The program repeats frequently.

If you catch the TO Island show, I'm the handsome ~30's guy talking about start-line strategies for light-wind racing!

 Big thumbs up

Do you see a lot of traffic out on the island airport and as well, airlines turing onto final for YYZ?

Yes, my condo at harbourfront faces west so I see the YYZ traffic in the distance. YTZ is boring.....just Air Ontario Dash 8's. The occasional Trans Capital Dash 7.

My parents house in Bramalea (where I grew up) is the perfect house for spotting. Below and off-centre from 15/33. I went thru major spotting withdrawal when I moved downtown years and years ago! But hey, there are other pursuits downtown!

Tomorrow's up in the air for me Grant. Marathon training run tomorrow morning. I'm often sore & in a foul mood after. We'll see!

Ciao

Here's the link to the Greater Toronto Aviation Enthusiasts (GTAE) web site

Only two of us showed up at Threshold, today. However, we did some great 'spotting'! Gmonney got some cool pics, including a shot of AirCan's "Free Spirit" 767 which he may add to the GTAE web site. If any are good enough, he'll post them here on www.airliners.net - The premier web site for aviation enthusiasts the world over  Wink/being sarcastic

This post is making me laugh, with Grant declaring people '"official members" hey can I be an "official member" as well? Well the weather here in Sao Paulo is great, and the spotting is even better although Renato didn't come out yesterday to Guarulhos. I have taken tons of good shots, got some exotic stuff like PLUNA, LAB, Lan Chile, tons of Varig/TAM/VASP. Congonhas is a cool little airport as well, our hotel room faces the threshold of 17R, I can shoot from my room but traffic is only 5 airlines (Varig, Rio Sul, VASP, TAM, GOL) but there is a pretty constant flow. I'm off to Rio in 2 days on the Ponte Aerea on TAM. Hope you guys are having fun spotting Air Canada A320's in the freezing weather, oh and if you are lucky maybe you will catch an Air Canada A330 too..... hahaha!

Tony, the POS flight already has a CSM scheduled for your flight. She is a nice lady, I will call her at home and tell her to expect you. Do you have pre-booked seats? If not, get there early and get row 12, 13 or row 1. It's a long flight on a 320, ( we used to do it on the 330) and you will appreciate the leg room. Anyway, have a great time. Too bad we can't do flight deck visits anymore. We used to be able to invite people to sit up front for take off and landing, but Sept 11th changed all of that.

Twelve or thirteen, eh? Emerg exits. I was thinking of those. Also thought of One. Since I'm travelling with two others it'll be difficult to guarantee what time I'll check-in.
It would be cool to travel on the a330. Wonder if they'll use that bird for that route, again?
So, should I wear a name tag or something? (tee-hee Smile/happy/getting dizzy)

Hey Neil, I suppose. Both Slawko and I have posted on airliners, two different threads which were deleted by the administration. So I don't know if airliners.net is the venue to be able to get the message across, as they seem to be against it for whatever reason.

Just to expand on that, my thread was deleted due to it being "low quality" and also in the "wrong forum". Well, I can understand the second point to a degree, but we all know that the others forums have much lower traffic. But I don't understand the "low quality" part.

What I wanted was feedback with regards to what people wanted from a club such as this one. Fly-ins? Charter small aircraft and take a day trip to somewhere like the Smithsonian?

In any case, have a look at the website http://www.torontoaviation.com/ and I hope lots of you can have a look! By the way, airliners.net is linked to our website, so I don't know why they would go against us promoting this little club for all people!

Hmmm......you know what we could do....create a yahoo club or group on clubs.yahoo.com.

The club can feature a message board, a list of members, photo section, links etc. The message board is as user friendly as this one. Yahoo will not monitor content. So nothing will get deleted.

Do yall want me to look into this? Might be easier to COMMUNICATE when some uppity Swede (I can say this since I'm part Swedish) isn't deleting threads. hehe Johan hehe.

Might wanna answer me quickly.
