Your Favorite Aviation Photos From The 1960s

Sat Mar 09, 2002 12:50 am

It's Friday--why not start a frivolous topic? Please show us your favorite photos from the 1960s in the airliners.net database. These might be photos of your favorite airline, favorite aircraft, or just photos of particularly high quality. Please explain your choices.

For those of you who don't like this sort of post, think of it as a way to see some photos you might not have seen otherwise.

Some of my selections:

I don't normally have much interest in a helicopter shot, but this one is a beauty!

Nice departure photo of Western Airlines in a classic scheme. Taken at my home airport as well!

Lindy Field, that picture you posted of the 990 on the ground is interesting. It reveals a family resemblance to the B-58 that I hadn't noticed before. Particularly the nose-down attitude, but also the shape of the tail, the engine nacelles and pylons and their placement, and the cockpit windows. The nose is rather pointy, too.
