14 firm + 7 purchase rights.

The booked part are most likely the 10 booked as UFO last month, so probably 4 more to firm on a later date: "When the full order is finalized, it will also appear on the website".

"...order and commitment for 14 Boeing 777 Freighters...", as the press release states, so I take it as 10 firm and 4 options? Don't think the 7 purchase rights mentioned can be regarded as options.

10 already firm, 4 to be firmed up. It's not clear if this is a commitment / MoU that will be firmed up soon or if they are options and that it will take a bit longer.

But congrats to Boeing on their 100th MAX customer.

Been that way for a few years now trying to bridge to the B777X, but moreso on the pax side. Freighters still in a different market.

Maybe, but the freighter 77L will still be being built even when the 778 and 779 are in production.

Virtually all the orders (both Airbus and Boeing) have already been announced and so are actually no net change on the order book.

If my suspicions are correct, the latter two will both be delivered before the end of August.

I suppose the rationale is that this order makes no difference to the order book.

Looks lik QR’s firming of the April LOI is the only net new order this far....and maybe part of the DHL order.

Its 15 new MAX 8s and 30 conversions to MAX 10. 135 total MAX orders now.

Edit: GOL must have finally turned a corner by ordering more new jets instead of deferring.

Thanks. This is good news for the -10 that according to the press release will seat 30 more passengers than the MAX 8.

2019 first delivery is interesting considering the order backlog and 6 per year production rate: From Feb 2018

The new UPS order raises Boeing’s backlog for the 747-8F to 24, which is enough to fill all available production slots over the next four years at current rates
https://www.flightglobal.com/news/artic ... er-445447/

Guess Boeing has to up the rate . .

I think you have the 777F and 747-8F confused. DHL is getting 777Fs in 2019, the 777 is not at a 6 per year production rate.

My apologies for the ignorant question, long time reader, very rare poster here -- what is a UFO in terms of orders of aircraft? I tried Googling but obviously was getting a lot of results of the other kind of UFO. Thank you!

It's an order placed by an "Unidentified Customer". In other words, a customer who does not as yet want their name to be revealed, but who has signed a contract for a firm order which Boeing (and Airbus) are required to report for financial reasons.

It is also commonly used when China (specifically, the China Aviation Supplies Holding Company) places an order, but has not yet assigned individual airframes to their respective Chinese carriers (like the 10 frame A350XWB order which was originally placed as a UFO and was identified today as going to Sichuan Airlines).

I agree with what you have written, Stitch. To go one step further, due to the nature of the order being on the books, I always took it to stand for Unidentified Firm Order.
