NWA Flight 243 Today

Sun Mar 10, 2002 6:50 am

I was on and I noticed NWA flight 243 went from FLL-PIT. Aircraft was a DC-9-30. Does anybody know why this flight landed in PIT? My only guess is I noticed the weather in Detroit was bad.. so it couldve been a emergency landing for weather reasons. Thanks

High Winds

Sun Mar 10, 2002 7:54 am

It might be because of bad weather it's high winds. ORD and MDW are delayed up to 15 minutes due to high winds. Meigs Field at downtown reported winds at 50 mph and downtown Chicago has some problems due to the high winds. Some flights have been late because of the high winds . I was over around there and there is some stuff happening there. Some other airports are experiencing delays.

Aircraft were landing on the 27s today at DTW because of strong cross winds. I am about to write a report on my DTW cross wind spotting. I assume aircraft were more than 15 minutes delayed at DTW. The big take off time at DTW is 3-4:00pm with hardly anything taking off afterwards. I was spotting at 4:45 pm in the employee parking lot off of Eureka Road and there was at least a 50 plane line up to take off from 27L, they were lined up all along 21L and then all around the Midfield terminal. I saw 3 missed approaches in a period of 10-20 minutes two NW DC-9s and a NW CRJ

I saw flight tracker Southwest BNA-MDW but WN diverted to STL. Some flights were long delayed to ORD.
