I've been wondering the same thing as well. Currently, Delta, Delta Express, and Delta Connection operate 21 daily nonstop flights into Columbus: 9 flights to Cincinnati (5 mainline 4 Comair), 6 to Atlanta (all mainline), 1 to Orlando and 2 to Tampa (both with Delta Express), and 3 to New York LaGuardia on Atlantic Coast Jet.
Before Sept. 11, there were 25 nonstop flight. 1 nonstop to Atlanta and 3 nonstops to Orlando were discontinued.

I saw the plans for the expanded C Concourse, and it showed 2 757's and 2 737-200's at Delta's 4 new gates. Right now, I'm guessing that at least the 7th nonstop to ATL will be brought back. I would like to see nonstop CMH-SLC service as well. If anyone has any insight as to any service expansion Delta might have for CMH, it would be very much appreciated.

Maybe Delta is considering adding DFW and/ or SLC service as well. Columbus is still a healthy and growing area--isn't it approaching 1.5 million people these days? Also, Delta is strong in Boston--maybe ACA Jet or Comair flights to BOS, say 3-4 dailies. Maybe one or two more flights to LGA too. ACA Jet had 4 well-used dailies from ROC to LGA before the Slottery whacked them.

As far as I can tell, Delta would have no low-fare competition from CMH to LGA, BOS (WN doesn't do MHT or PVD from CMH), or DFW (Wright Amendment, and of course no AirTran for a connection thru ATL). Also no low-fare competition to SLC or ATL. So I'd say DL's expansion possibilities at CMH are good, if the Columbus economy is good, and if the population base is still growing.

DCA-ROCguy:
CMH-DFW with Comair or ASA would be nice, but I think the demand for the market might be satisfied already, since both American and America West fly that route, with a combined total of 8 daily flights. The same goes for Boston, with America West Express and American Eagle both flying a combined 9 daily on the route. However, the BOS flights mostly fullfil O&D demand, so if Delta were to provide some good connection opportunities, I could see ACJ flying 2 or 3 daily nonstops between CMH and BOS.
Also, Columbus' population is now roughly 1.54 million, and is the fastest growing metropolitan area in Ohio.

Mah4546:
Delta Express did a seasonal CMH-FLL nonstop 2 years ago, but never brought it back. With the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area averaging over 500 passengers per day from Columbus, I've always found it hard to see why no airline can seem to maintain a nonstop flight to the area.

FlyCMH, I remember that flight. I don't get why CMH has service to markets like TPA and RSW and still none to the much larger MIA/FLL area. Hopefully we'll see AE bring back MIA-CMH in the near future, but I think the best bet is daily America West CMH-MIA service.

I would really like to see Delta expand CMH and start service to SLC. They could operate the route with the 737-800.

I wanna see the 767 into CMH. We have a 10,000+ foot runway and the biggest thing we get is the HP 757 AND DL 757. FlyCmh will vouch for me when I say we get tired of seeing the same old thing day in and day out at CMH.

United flies in a 757-200 every now and again (not a lot, but I've seen them a few times).

I doubt that you'll see regular 767 service here in CMH anytime soon, but who knows...

I would like to see Delta start CMH-SLC as well. I would also like to see America West expand some more from CMH, but I was reading an article in the paper and it looks like that isn't going to happen for some time.

Papatango, there is no feasable route for Delta to use a 767 on out of or into CMH, I'd just like to see one for s's and g's.

I think Delta could use a 767 into ATL, it is used in smaller markets like JAX and slightly larger markets like BDL and MSY.

BDL has 2 daily 767's on DL and at times has 3-4 daily departures on 767's to ATL and CVG.

I think instead of adding that 7th ATL flight upgrade a MD80 to a 767.
