Boeing 777: June 1994

Tue Mar 12, 2002 2:18 am

I happened to not be in the country at the time, but did the media make a big deal out of the roll-out? Was the first flight aired live on TV?

Most of the time the media act like vultures the way they cover the death of an aircraft (crashes/cancellations), do they cover the birth of one?

In STL, since there is a big Boeing plant here, it did make local news here. Both the roll-out, and first flight ewre on the news, but no live coverage here.
I'm not a real aeronautical engineer, I just play one on Airliners.net.

That is really sad, IMO, the media reflects their attitudes to the public, like taking aerospace for granted in okay.  Sad

I was in Baltimore on business when this happened, and recall that both the Sun and USA Today had major stories on the roll-out.
I doubt whether the stories are archived but it's possible.
