I'm predicting SYR-VPS/SAV but SYR is my hometown airport so I'm biased. :D

I am flying G4 this Saturday, roundtrip from FLL to AVL and back the same day. Had some free time and the roundtrip fare was only $66 so I wanted to give G4 a try and put them on my airlines flown list. I have about 5 hours between flights so I am renting a car to look around Asheville.

Hilton Head.

You would be surprised at how many of G4's pax are actually quite wealthy and use G4 to commute back and forth to their beach/resort properties. The average G4 passenger isn't quite the low end of the market one might expect from a ULCC. The income of the average G4 passenger is north of $100K.

I can definitely see that. Yesterday I was on G4's website and there was an advertisement for their swank new resort in Southwest Florida - it looked very upscale.

This slide from their investor presentation in September compares Allegiant customer household income and net worth against the overall US.

17% of Allegiant passengers have an annual household income over $150,000. An additional 37% have household income between $75,000 and $149,000.

22% of Allegiant customers have a net worth over $750,000.

I would love to see them try CID-VPS and CID-MYR. We haven’t really had a new route since LAX was added 3-4 years ago.

Last week I flew from FLL to Asheville, NC on Allegiant...did a same day out and back as the fare was only $66 RT and I have always wanted to fly on G4. I was very pleased with my G4 experience as the plane was clean, the flight crew were all very nice and both flights ran on time. I am an AA frequent flyer so it was fun to try out a carrier that was so different from AA.

Wow! G4 is adding LAS - LAX. I knew it was only a matter of time. This will be one happy bloodbath. I counted 6 airlines flying this route on June 5th start date for G4 (Alaska (3), American (7), Delta (8), Spirit (3), Southwest (10), and United(4)). Thats 35 flights between both cities, with G4 adding twice-weekly.

If I’m not mistaken three of the new routes compete against WN or a ULCC

BNA MCO
LAS LAX
CLE BNA

I get the first two— seemingly unlimited tourism. But CLE BNA? That’s harder to understand. You’d think they’d handle CLE like PIT, try a new high tourist route in TN like TYS.

VPS, if connected with vacation packages, should do ok from SHV. Vision Air packed them in during their run at it a few years ago.

I like the schedule.

We will see.

Agree. Allegiant continues to be quite malleable in their approach. It has served them well.

I would think VPS has many more potential flight pairs.

Allegiant released an updated management presentation a week ago.

Among the info, current plans are:
2019 - Fleet to grow to 93 by year-end. Adding 6 A319s; 3 A320s (186 seats); 8 A320s (177 seats)
2020 - Fleet to grow to 102 by year-end. Adding 9 A320s

I was just reading another thread about schedule changes/updates and that G4 will be starting DEN-AVL three times a week. This is a long flight by G4's standards so I am curious as to what kind of demand there is between the two areas as I don't really see a connection between Denver and Asheville.

Well, on the leisure side, Colorado and Asheville actually have a lot in common: lots of outdoor activities, craft brewing, etc. And on the business side - New Belgium (based in Colorado) has their second major location in Asheville.

The leisure aspect was specifically cited in why G4 is also starting DEN-TYS. Frankly I’m a bit surprised F9 didn’t start DEN-AVL before Allegiant did. I think the link makes sense, and it must be working if they are upping their frequency

This route was flown beginning May of last year, took a winter hiatus, and returns on February 27 twice weekly before going to 4x/week in June and July before dropping back to 3x/week in August. Great vacation destinations on both ends of the route. It wouldn't surprise me to see UA start DEN-AVL at some point.

DEN-AVL actually ran last year seasonally from May to Aug/Sep and did well. It appears to be going year round as it is available through the entire booking window. When they announced DEN-TYS last month they cited the success of DEN-AVL as a reason they were launching the TYS route.
