Boeing 737NG Production/Delivery Thread - 2019

Fri Jan 18, 2019 7:01 pm

Hi all, it seems there isn’t a thread to track the production and delivery of the 737NG, and I thought it would be interesting to follow this as the type approaches the end of its civil production run.

Looking at the numbers below, the end of the 737NG alone can’t be too far off now, excluding ongoing production of the P-8. It will be interesting to see what the backlog shrinks to by the end of this year.

I’m sure Ryanair had their last 2 800s delivered a few weeks ago?! The next batch will be MAXs in March. Can anyone correct me if I’m wrong.

The unidentified 737-800s backlog are mainly Chinese, with China Eastern (MU) and subsidiaries should be behind the largest part of the 29 orders.

But there are some other non Chinese airlines that will also take delivery of new 737-800s in 2019

Pobeda (DP) should take 6 of them through Sberbank Leasing.

KLM (KL) will take delivery of 4 new 737-800s later this year. They will be leased, but they haven't disclosed the lessor.

Transavia (HV)takes delivery of 2 737-800s this month, one arrived in Amsterdam today, the 2nd will follow on the 26th.

The family is still showing on the Boeing Price List and I expect suppliers can still provide the necessary parts not shared with the MAX airframe to complete new-builds. There are also the 737-800ERXs being built for modification into the P-8.

That being said, it's been some 18 months since the last non-military 737NG order so I expect Boeing did a "last call" around 2017 to fill up any non-MAX slots.

Ty for the info Stitch. I was only asking if an airline operating a relatively young fleet of NG'S wanted a small top off order especially if Boeing was giving a good end of line price.

Since there are only a handful of 737NGs left to be delivered, does anybody know when the last frame is going to be delivered?

Something else noteworthy about the backlog as of the end of January of 93 aircraft, just over half of it is for P-8s at 47.

I wonder if all 46 of the other aircraft will actually be delivered? From the A320ceo thread we know that frame has some phantom orders still sitting on the order book. I wonder if the 737NG likewise has some orders which won’t be fulfilled. Obviously the 737-900s for Alaska and Delta seem a safe bet, but what of the others?
  • The US Navy 737-700Cs? The rest of the order has been delivered over quite a period of time: 3 in 2000, 1 in 2001, 2 in 2002, 2 in 2004, 1 in 2006, 2 in 2010, 1 in 2011, 2 in 2014 and 1 in 2016. Will the remaining two be delivered this year?
  • The BOC 737-800s? They’ve been taking them fairy steadily over the past few years, but it has now been 5 months since the last delivery.
  • The inidentified 737-800s - are there any phantom orders in there I wonder?
  • The three BBJs?

This leads to the inevitable question: excluding the P-8, who will end up taking the last 737NG.
