Tarom To Sydney

Mon Mar 18, 2002 12:23 am

On TAROM's website, under their About Us page they state that they inaugurated flights from Bucharest to Sydney in 1974.

Does anyone out there have any ideas at to the status of these flights back then? What aircraft did they use? Frequency of flights? When the flights were stopped? And any other information?

Cheers

Sorry I can't answer your questions but it was sort of sad to see TAROM leave YUL. I wish RO had stayed at YUL. However I do have the chance to see RO flights sometimes because they still fly to DXB with the A310!

You're right, it appears that in 1974 they flew Bucharest-Calcutta-Sidney route most likely using their (brand new spanking - at that time) Boeing 707. The only other "long range" aircraft in their fleet at the time was the soviet made IL-62.
It looks like no flights to Australia or Montreal for Tarom this year. But Marco can still see their A310-324 in Dubai. New York route will see an additional frequency with stops in Luxembourg.
 Big thumbs up
