Current Status Of BA's 4 Class Service To The US

Wed Mar 20, 2002 2:21 am

Does anyone know that as of this time, which cities in the US receive the 4 class British Airways aircraft, and which still get the 3 class?

Are all their long-haul aircraft going to be converted ultimately to the 4-class configuration? What about the 767s?

4-class goes to JFK, EWR, ORD, SFO, MIA, LAX, SEA, IAD, and BOS. TPA gets 2-class, everyone else is 3-class.

Tampa gets a 2-class aircraft? is this one of the high density 777s that are in the 3-4-3 configuration?

IAH will be seeing four class 744s in about a month when BA starts flying LHR-IAD-IAH.

We'll also get the three class 777s from LGW.

At present no aircraft from Gatwick are "Dusked" as the project name has it. LHR aircraft are.

According to BA all North American routes are currently served with four class planes, with the exceptions of CLT and DTW.

Marco, that is incorrect. According to BA, all US cities except DTW, CLT, and BWI as well, are served by planes with flat beds in first.

According to BA's online timetable, only LHR cities (with the excpetion of DTW, CLT, and BWI) receive the four-class aircraft. In other words, LGW cities continue to receive 3-class aircraft. Does anyone know if this is correct? Do any LGW cities currently receive 4-class aircraft.

I wonder if any discrete humping is going on in flight on those F class (or Club) flat bed seats. No sex, please, we're British!

Wow, lots of conflicting reports here. For my part, I haven't a clue Big grin although I should mention the fact that in a recent BA ad, World Traveller Plus was offered on a variety of USA 'World Offer' flights except for one, San Diego, which I know is ex-Gatwick

Strech 8 I don't think the crew would allow it, (although I'm sure Branson would reward such moves on his a/c).

A lot in the UK news at the moment about the trial of the REM guitarist who got a bit hot under the collar on a BA flight last year from SEA-apparently, amongst other things, he managed to spill some expensive yoghurt all over 2 cabin crew, ripped up the 'warning' card given to him by the good Captain, hurled abuse at one and all, did something unpleasant to the First class lavatory (the mind boggles...), and left the entire cabin in a generally awful state.

The hearing is continuing. You can get some coverage on BBC News.

Regards

Are there any 4-class 767's? If there are, the whole airplane cabin will be anything but economy.

BA, doesn´t have 4 class fitted 767-300. Their 763 are fitted in 3 different configurations :
Club/World Traveller
Club Europe/World Traveller
First/Club/World Traveller.

Club cabin still has the cradle seats
FIRST has 8 suites

I believe that the only destination that gets 763´s with F/J/Y is CLT/BWI.

MEX, GRU and GIG also have 4 classes, but cradle seats on Club.

NRT, HKG, SYD, SIN, MEL, BKK, JNB, CPT, and other $$$ destinations have 4 class service with the new Club seats.
