New Air Italy Livery??

Fri Mar 15, 2019 6:14 am

Looks like an unknown b737 MAX rolled out of final assembly at Renton. The small portion of the livery on the rudder has similar colors to Air Italy and the winglet color is exactly the same. I know currently at Paine, Air Italy has 2 MAXs stored in a white wrapping.

jumping at straws a little there. Air Italy's current livery isn't old, but I'll admit it doesn't do much for me, the old one did more.
However I think we need a little more info first.

It could be anything. Some people on Twitter are suggesting it's the new United livery or a special livery for whatever airline.

I agree the Air Italy livery isn't old and is not up for replacement yet.

If this really is an Air Italy plane, it could be a special one-off scheme. Their livery isn't that old, I doubt they're rolling out a new one so soon.

The twitter comments are speculating that it might be the new United scheme, which is super interesting but because of the winglet color I doubt it.

I’d say that’s our first look at the new United Livery! If so that has the potential to be REALLY COOL!

I would go with Air Italy, the pattern resembles the pattern on Etihad aircraft with different colours, considering they are the prime investor it could be a special paint scheme to highlight cooperation or ...

Air Italy is partially owned by Qatar, not Etihad and I doubt they would be tweaking a new livery so soon. Is the production line number 7489?

Air Italy's 49% stake shareholder is Qatar Airways which would explain the maroon, but not the crystal pattern.

I would bet it's the new United Livery. If you really look at the pattern of the white it almost looks like part of a hyper-stylized globe. Couple that with the new palette, I think this aircraft would be it.

It looks like a blue version of the Ethiad livery. I doubt United would go for something that modern but I’m ready to be surprised!

This is a Max 8. United only have the MAX 9 and 10 on order, so it can’t be United. It must be a new/special Air Italy livery.

I'll take that bet. It's on an airplane they haven't even ordered.

Good thing no money was involved. I jumped the gun, I thought it was the max 9, but it's a max 8 per the twitter post.

Is Qatar the main investor in Air Italy, not Etihad. The latter is EY-esque though.

But if you look at it, it’s a 8 MAX, United only has orders for the 9 and 10.

Nordstar according to Planespotters.net https://www.planespotters.net/airframe/Boeing/737/-NordStar-Airlines/laLYiBKG. The airline is (was) due to receive one in April and two in June.

Then it will be a considerable livery change for Nordstar as well.
