JetSuiteX to Launch OAK-BFI on July 1

Tue Apr 23, 2019 3:42 pm

Per email marketing from JetSuiteX and SFGate news, JetSuiteX (XE) is launching flights from OAK to BFI on July 1st. Initially, flights will be 3x daily Sunday - Friday, and 2x daily on Saturdays. Fares start at $99 and should hopefully be a nice change from current carriers. This will also be one of the longer XE flights.

I hope it's successful.
Why endure the nightmare and congestion of LAX when BUR, LGB, ONT & SNA is so much easier to fly in and out of. Same with OAK & SJC when it comes to SFO.

90 days and done...Flying within California is tough from Oakland. Goodluck, they're going to need it!

Is this the only ticket the average Joe can purchase to BFI and is BFI significantly closer to Seattle than SEA or PAE?

They've managed OAK-SNA/BUR for a while now. This is an even more unique route that could save people a lot of time as BFI is so conveniently located. This is just the beginning of their operations out of BFI and they have it all to themselves.
I'm not complaining, I'm critiquing...

Does JetSuiteX use North Field for takeoff/landing at OAK since the FBO is on that side of the airport?

No it’s not. Kenmore flys Cessna 208’s from Boeing Field to Friday Harbor and Orcas Island which anyone can purchase.

I wonder if they have or ever will consider connecting flights in Oakland or Vegas. It might help their load factors a little bit.

SEA and BFI are actually pretty close, but BFI is that much closer to downtown, requires zero freeway driving, and obviously allows for speedy pickup and drop off vs SEA.

Yes, I notice when looking at Flightradar 24 that the usually use the North Field runways, but not always. I'm not sure what determines which runways they are allowed to use but I'm sure someone here will let us know.

I don't think they see themselves as mainly competing on price. They are marketing themselves as a more premium and exclusive product--"The Experience." Including not going thru TSA security, 36" pitch, 2-1 seating, free wi-fi and booze, and, the convenience of arriving at at their "private terminals" just 20 - 30 minutes before flight time.

"HOW DO I CHECK IN? Experience a new way of travel on JetSuiteX. We offer all the comforts of private air travel at commercial fares. We own and operate a fleet of the largest private jets on the market with regular, daily flights on which you can purchase by seat. Travel out of private terminals and escape the crowds, security lines, and wait times. Our E135s also have full flight attendant service, ample legroom (36 inch seat pitch), and, on our newest aircraft, power outlets in each row."

"WHAT IS AN FBO OR A PRIVATE TERMINAL? An FBO is short for "fixed base operators", or a small private air terminals that are typically away from commercial terminals alongside the tarmac or taxiway. These locations provide passenger and aircraft services to smaller airlines or private aviation companies. We refer to operations at these FBOs and our private lounges collectively as 'private terminals' to avoid confusion with the main airline locations."

They've made these relatively old E135s stylish and comfortable.

Very smart company in my opinion . . . and doing well in California/Las Vegas, and now Seattle.

To be fair, all ERJ's that I've ever seen are 2-1 seating, so that doesn't differentiate them at all. The pitch, snacks, and lack of TSA on the other hand are a solid selling point.

Yeah, my bad I thought BFL Bakersfield. OAK-BFI might work if the fares and timing align.

BFI is between SEA and PAE. BFI is very attractive as it is a rocks throw away from downtown. Also, free parking! This will no doubt attract business travelers, and leisure travelers like myself. PAE is about an hour north of me, and SEA is such a pain in the ass in terms of long TSA lines, expensive parking, and pure headaches. I really hope they can offer service down to the LAS area and LAX area eventually. I would even be okay with connecting.

Fingers are crossed big time! I cant wait to fly on them! They will do good in the summer. I suspect they may need to reduce the daily flights in the winter though.

Now... If they do SEA to LAS? Boom!!! Money right there. Can their 135 handle that distance?

The only fly in the ointment I see at BFI is lack of rental cars on property.

For the seattle folks. Would people actually fly out of BFI? Seems like they've done ok operating out of FBO of LAS/BUR/OAK, but most people would actually search for those airports when they look up flights and now you can see the JetSuitex schedule and price next to WN flight thanks to their deal with JetBlue. But for an airport like BFI, who is going to discover JetSuitex? If they would want people from seattle to fly out of there, they'd need to do a lot of advertising, which they don't do. So they would have to rely on word of mouth.

Anyway, I think it's great that they keep building out their OAK operation. They've added a lot to BUR/LAS/SNA since they've started and cut RNO which obviously didn't work. They've obviously done well enough at OAK that they've made it the primary airport in bay area now after starting off at CCR and trying/giving up at SJC twice.

With these 3 flights, OAK is now larger than BUR and same size as LAS, but with more destinations.

Seems like it's just portland and San diego that are the obvious holes in their network out of OAK that ERJ-35 can reach.

Supposedly, Phoenix is next. I guess they could also try SLC. I can't think of anywhere else ERJ-35 could reach. Maybe they can try PSP also.

BFI lacks a lot of logistics like access to Light Rail. But if you're an Uber or Lyft customer, it won't be so bad. I'll be interested to see which FBO at BFI they will use.

Wonder if they would consider HIO. If anything, I'm sure they'd go to SLE though. Shucks.

You beat me to it, HIO is a possible option with the Tech out in the 26 corridor. BFI sounds reasonable to me with the proximity to downtown & no need to use I-5 to get into town. A nice wide two lane road that I have never seen gridlocked under normal conditions. Maybe JetSuiteX has, is, or will look at HIO, beating UA, AS or anyone else to to it.

I like choice of flight numbers. Northbound are 707,727,747. Didn't look southbound, but can assume.

Based on their career site and a listing for E135 pilots out of IWA, I'm guessing PHX is in the queue of announcements for JetSuiteX

I would give them a try. At least the rental car facility at OAK is just down the road.

Often these FBO's can arrange a valet service for one's rental car

Good point.

Will this flight be JetsuiteX's longest flight segment?

yes, easily the longest.

Seeing this https://blog.wandr.me/2014/05/a-new-ent ... mpetition/
it seems like they can go long enough to do BFI-LAS. Although, I'm not sure it's in JetSuiteX's model to have such long flight, since their main selling point is saving time and the saved time as a % of overal travel time decreases with longer flight.

Rental car companies will deliver their cars to the FBO for a small service fee and many busy FBOs have a big brand rent car desk on site. Signature contracts with National for example but Hertz or Enterprise will bring you a car too. I fly private and this is what we have always done.
