Fri Mar 22, 2002 5:26 am

What type of seating, inflight entertainment, etc. could one expect? Has anyone flown this route before that could give their opinion?

No PTV's, Seating 2-5-2 on the DC-10. Seating on 747-400 (i think NWA flight 68) The seating is 3-4-3. In flight entertainment for March...

Outbound
"Hardball"
Translation: English, French or German

Inbound Flights
"Hearts in Atlantis"
Translation: English, French or German

"Joy Ride"
Translation: English or French

When are you going to Amsterdam? Most clear nights I see all the European flights outbound. They flight over Oakland county on there way. About 14000-18000feet up. I'll bring out the scanner and listen to 127.70 and look for you flight(if weather allows).

Enjoy the trip.

Haven't made up my mind who I'll use for a flight to STR/EDDS. Considering all my options. Thanks for the info.

Ive made the flight several times, in both classes. YOu can expect NO PTV's, in economy, which isn't really that big of a deal. There is lots of TV's anyway, so there always visible. DOn't try and compare this flight to the DC-10. Not even close

Seating is always 3-4-3 on all NWA 747's. Seat pitch is pretty generous, and i think its a 38inch recline, which is better than most carriers so its pretty nice. YOu should get a small snack and a drink a little while into the flight before dinner. Ecelent award winning wine. Lol, they even gave it to me a minor! Food should be pretty good in economy, probably chicken or pasta, salad, rolls, dessert and maybe cheese and crackers. Portions are pretty good. THe bring around drinks (water and OJ) a few times during the flight as well as snacks, but not as much as KLM. Probably get yougurt, banana and a roll for breakfast. Try to get a seat near a emergency exit or a door, thatway you get several feet of leg room!
Personally, the service is just as good as AA, DL, CO and certianly better than UA. I think youd be satified, but some people are a little to picky and expect to much. If you had a chance to get a KLM flight though, TAKE IT.

No offense Zeus, but as someone who's just between 16-20, how many times have you gotten the chance to accurately compare NW's service with all of the others? Your folks must take you on an awfully lot of vacations for you to be able to make such a statement.

Nonetheless, I thought it was common knowledge that NW has the CRAPPIEST no-frills onboard service of all the majors. I can see if you compared it to Iberia or Alitalia, but sorry, NW just isn't in any league with UA, AA, DL, CO, nor US as far as inflight service to Europe. None at all.

And BTW, didn't UA just win some travel award last year for international sevice?

What Zeus01 said on the KLM part. You should be able to for the same price get the KLM flight out of DTW. For travel after May 6th. Since NWA and KLM are partners they offer all the flights for the same price.

Be careful about sterotyping younger people. SOME of us do travel, maybe even more than the great SEVEN_FIFTY7. ONce again, age discrimination takes a hit by super ego inflated know it alls.....
