Swissgabe: I think it's 3 times weekly! Hehehe...Anyway, I just wish they could start a trans-Atlantic services from Europe instead of Dubai. I doubt they will make money on the DXB-EWR route, especially in the tense political situations between these two regions. They have a very liberal air agreement with the Swiss Governement, which I think they should make use of! Maybe they are planning to code-share with Swiss again? We shall have to wait till March 26 to see!
OS is making money at KUL because they are not only counting on the Europe-KUL market, as well as the KUL-Australia market. Both market are very good for Austrian. OS offers the cheapest airfare from London to KUL, if you do not want to travel with Middle Eastern airlines. That's because there's only 2 European carriers at KUL, namely Austrian and the other being KLM. While there are loads of tourist from Europe wanting to fly to Malaysia, but they can't because due to lack of air services. take Paris for example, MAS fills almost every single flight out of CDG. With KLM and OS, they could help to bring French tourist into KUL. Plus, if ytou want a seat from London to KUL somewhere in June with OS, it's quite impossible to find any seats available.
Another thing is that KUL have very cheap landing fees. They ferry a lot of passengers on the Kangaroo route as well. With the cheap landing fees, they could well increase their yield.
As far as Egypt air is concerned, their KUL-SYD-KUL flight sector did not show up on their timetable as of yet. Did they have the rights to fly this route, coz if they don't it would be really stupid of them to fly via KUL instead of via SIN where they get fifth freedom rights at SIN. Egyptair is also another airline that is taking the advantage of KUL's cheap landing fees when they are flying to Australia is concerned!
