Swissair/Swiss/Crossair/Air Switzerland

Sat Mar 23, 2002 11:55 pm

I'm confused ...

Who's taking the short-haul / long haul ?

What codes are they going to use ?

is 'SR' going to survive ?

All this takes place April 1st ?

Crossair merged with Swissair and they will operate new as SWISS and the code is LX.

Air Switzerland is a "new" plan of a few investors to operate "together" with Swiss a few destinations Swiss doesn't serve...

try it on your calculator:

Swissair+Crossair=Swiss

Air Switzerland+(swissair+crossair)=>

Air Switzerland+Swiss=ERROR

In my opinion Air Switzerland will never get off of the ground.

I just thought that the old Swissair was going to be split into long-haul and short-haul ops.

New York timetables show Crossair as the carrier as opposed to 'Swiss'

Swissair will end all operations on March 31. At this point SWISS will start as a new airline. SWISS is based on Crossair, which has expanded by incorporating parts of the soon to be defunct Swissair. SWISS will for example operate 26 widebodies and 26 narrowbodies previously operated by Swissair. On the other hand, SWISS is about to build an own cargo division.

Air Switzerland is the name of a new charter airline, which will start this year, if all goes as planned. There are rumours, that Air Switzerland wants to buy the brand "Swissair".

Hope this helps

yeah, thats correct.  Smile
I was just way to lazy to write it all out.
Somehow I doubt that Air Switzerland will ever get off of the ground.

rw774477, the reason all flights show up as Crossair is because they have not yet been re-branded to SWISS. After March 31st all flights with LX code will be operated by SWISS.

Also, Crossair AG will be renamed to Swiss Air Lines Ltd after the shareholder's meeting later this year.
