Shuttle America Fleet

Sun Mar 24, 2002 4:42 am

Saab has confirmed that Shuttle America will get 9 additional Saab S340A in addition to the 9 already in service. Interesting IMO that the leases are comparably short-term, only for three and four years. Means that they have to decide on a replacement rather soon, maybe already late next year.

The original Shuttle America planes sit idle outside of Field Aviation in YYC, looking for new owners.

I believe the reason for the short term leases are that Shuttle America is interested in Regional Jets, especially the FRJ-328. I believe the Saab 340s are just a temporary measure until they get more cash (they just came out from Chapter 11).
