Air Canada 74E

Mon Mar 25, 2002 7:46 am

I will be flying a 74E for the first time on Thursday on an Air Canada flight from YYZ to Frankfurt. Then again on a flight from LHR-YYZ on April 6th. I was just curious as to how the 74E is configured. I know it has cargo pallet space in the rear, so I assume that from inside the fusalage appears to be about half as long.

Where are Economy, Business, First class located on these aircraft?

I'm traveling with a group of 60, as it is a school trip, and I assume we'll sit together.

Has anyone else flown this aircraft? What was it like? Any comparisons to a 744 flight?

its like any 747-400, but the pax cabin ends at the 4th door, after that is the cargo config

Configuration for AC has Executive 1st in the nose and on the upper deck and economy in the rest.
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Some AC 74E's are/were configured with economy seats on the upper deck.

That'd be cool if our group ended up on the upper deck. It probably wouldn't happen though.

The 74E's used to have hospitality on the upper deck, but they don't anymore.

I remember I flew on th eupper deck of the 74E in 96 from YVR-HKG, I was with a groupd of 40 people then, and we had the entire upper deck to ourselves...it was AMAZING!!! The Kai Tak approach at the end was a nice way to top it off too  Smile

Thanks for the seating diagram LY744.

Does anyone know much about the inflight entertainment system on these aircraft? Their website isn't very descriptive.

Thanks.

Headphones, with movies, and short features playing throughout the flight.
12 Channels of audio.
(2 for movies)
No PTV's in coach.
And No Moving Map display info thing. (No idea what the name is)

I had that moving map thing on my flight from FRA-YYZ. I sat in 22A and my audio system didnt work.. i had to use my brothers cause he was sleeping but even then I had to put the armrest vertical so I could get a sound to come out. The legroom is much better on the A330 I flew over on.

I sat like three rows from the cargo.... i noticed no difference.. nothing.. the seats are not as good as the newer seats on the 330s...
i went on fleet number 343 (C-GAGN) a few months ago and it was Business on top deck...
There werent any PTVs and the monitors were simple CRT monitors hanging form the cieling in the aisels...
