More Powerful Engines For The A342/343

Mon Mar 25, 2002 5:26 pm

Now that Airbus has done the A345/346, will the A342 get any new engines? More powerful ones?

The A342 or A343 will NOT get new engines from RR!

But I'm sure that there's the possibility of changing the CFM-Engine on any A340 from CFM56-5C2 to the more powerful CFM56-5C4!

These GE/SNECMA CFM56-5C engines need to have around 40,000lbs thrust to give the A340 better takeoff performance with a full load on board.
