With new 717s or former TWA? Used would make more sense...

First Legacy/Oneida and now this? First I've heard of this airline. Granted we need more options (especially low-fare) here in Central New York- most of my friends drive to ALB or ROC to get on Southwest or AirTran- I actually only know one person who's tried JetBlue out of SYR- but I doubt the market exists for 2 start-ups plus these established carriers. Also would you mind posting the link to the article? Thanks.

Critical point: as far as I´ve understood those two articles they mostly rely on the hypothesis that this new shopping center will create enough demand for them to launch operations. But as far as I see this is still in the planning phase...

Still, IF they get airborne used B712s make more sense then new ones (60+~8 mio US-$ are only good for a max of three frames). Question: who is currently big in Syracuse who could fell pi*****?

Flown: A319/320/321,A332/3,A343/346, A380,AT4,AT7,B732/3/4/5/7/8/9,B742/4,B762/763,B772/77W,CR2/7/9/K,ER3/4,E70/75/90/95, F50/70/100,M11,L15,SF3,S20, AR8/1, 142/143,...

I first heard about Northern in 97 while on aroad trip to UCA. What I've been told is they are a sound group, unlike the dreamers at Legacy. Trying to find the money is nearly impossible in CNY. The economy there is terrible and has been for ever.

There was an article about them in The Post-Standard the other day.

New chief executive says Northern will fly
Edward Beauvais says the Syracuse market can support another low-cost carrier
