Possible AWA-DAL Merger?!?

Wed Mar 27, 2002 11:32 pm

I did not see this posted here so I thought I would give it a whirl. I am not trying to spread rumors either, but this is a pretty good source, maybe we will see a significant delta airbus fleet  Nuts

Possibly of more interest is the link regarding USAir. I didn't know they were running through $20M/day since 9/11.

The analyst apparently does not see them turning around anytime soon. If ever.

Do a search for this on this site. I posted the full article last week. There was a quite a good discussion regarding it.

In regards to this, Delta cut fares immediatley after AWA cut theirs recently. Does anyone know if the two compaines are working together, or was this just a coincidence?

Its unlikely, DL had one tase of airbus and spit them out as soon as they could. If a merger occurs there will be a fire sale on A319/320

Yes, this has been posted (the topic). However, this hasn't. Today, America West announced that they were stopping the codesharing deal with Continental to "seek new alliances". I am wondering if the "new alliance" could be with Delta.

It's in the Yahoo news aviation section.

Yes, I read that today too. I always thought that contintental even had stake in AWA, but I guess not.

CO did take a stake in HP. I think it was 27 percent, but they sold that some time back. If I remember correctly, CO developed the codeshare with HP as a way to serve markets they abandoned when they closed the Denver hub. Over the last few years CO has gone back into the cities once served from DEN directly from IAH, so I can see why the codeshare is nolonger very valuable.
