Your Opinions On USA3000

Thu Mar 28, 2002 11:04 am

Well this new Airline that is opening up in the United States sounds great. What are you opinions, comments concerns. Mr. Angus Kinnear former Canada 3000 president is running it, how well do you all think he would do. Do you all think that USA3000 would become like another Canada 3000, just based out of the US. They already have one type that Canada 3000 use to operate, the A320. I know its early and all, but I hope they aquire some A330's for flights to the U.K. and South Pacific, but thats my opinion.

Best Regards,

I think this is a very sound way to start an airline, e.g., in close cooperation with a major tour provider like Apple Vacations. This keeps your airplanes full, and profits thin, though virtually guaranteed. Its the classic risk/reward relationship.

Also, with your guarnteed profitable flights to Cancun or Vegas or wherever on Sat/Sun and maybe Wed, it gives you the other days to experiment some in scheduled services and other charter runs.

This is the way SunCountry operated, and I thought they were a good airline, with steady profits...that failed only when they tried to take on the majors.

Also, I think ATA started this way.

I must say that I'm always surprised to hear of new airlines starting up. Given the landscape of airlines that no longer exist, it takes real balls or real ovaries to start a new one.

I wish them luck.

I have to agree with RogueRider on this one. This will be a success. It resembles Canada 3000 when started in 1988. Major backer in John Mullen and his 2nd largest tour operator in Apple Vacations, less John Lecky, who made the poor decision to acquire Royal and Canjet, which eventually led to the demise of C3. Lessons were learned the hard way and this time, it'll be good news for the US travellers. Things will start off slowly and bulit from the ground up. I have confident that this airline will be around for quite some time.
