Cyprus Airways New Livery

Thu Mar 28, 2002 4:08 pm

Hi everybody,

seen at XFW (Finkenwerder Airbus plant) was the first Airbus A319-132 (c/n 1727, D-AVWR, will become 5B-DBO) for Cyprus Airways in green primer colours with dark blue engines and a new white logo on a dark blue tail.

The aircraft is currently in the paintshop, so I hope some photos will be posted when the whole livery is revealed.

The new livery is neat but very characterless/inspireless. Missing chance.

Clean image . . . nothing to gloat about. Not one that would stand out from a tarmac full of other Eurowhites.

A dash of gold (from its past livery) or a flash of Mediterranean sun would have injected that much life into this livery.

Perhaps Air Orange could show Cyprus Airways how they have missed a golden opportunity (no pun intended).

Missed Chance

Thu Mar 28, 2002 8:19 pm

Yes, like Air Orange/Norbert said, it's a missed chance!

Neither a strong logo (like Swiss) nor a great paintsheme.

Sad thing :-(

It is nice, but it has that missing 'inpiration' which stands out very much. I prefer the present one.

It looks very average. The Syrian scheme springs to mind.

Airbus Painters?

Fri Mar 29, 2002 12:12 am

The Syrian livery was designed the Airbus intern livery department .. seems as the Cyprus CID is from the same source.

By Airbus? That Says Enough...

Fri Mar 29, 2002 12:47 am

I'm aware that Boeing and Airbus have there own design departments. I would pledge that they stay at their core buisiness (and that is plane manufacturing) as airline branding is a totally different profession.... Years ago I have myself offered to them as a freelance designer. As they want to protect their own "shop" in a shop they do not work with independent subcontractors as they are afraid that such freelancers also design for competition manufacturers....shame... but nevertheless I go my own way...no problem.

If you feel the need to express your emotions contact the marketing department of Cyprus Airways. I think they deserve to hear and to see you honest feelings about the new livery. Perhaps they will reconcider their choice...or not. Save Cyprus Airways, mail to:

look,

its a livery, it wont change the fact that cyprus airways is a dreadful attempt at an airline, it shoddy, dirty and frankly i wouldnt let my dog fly with it.

much perfer the current one? are you joking?
It is amazing what can be accomplised when nobody takes the credit

Contra Designs Here!

Fri Mar 29, 2002 10:51 pm

We developed some contra designs which are shown here via this link http://www.webstudio.nl/liladesign/airlinesfreework/view.nhtml?profile=airlinesfreework&UID=10002

We kept the new logo though we deleted the word "airways" as it is obvious clear that it is an airline. Mentioning airways on stationary aslike buildings, letterheads, business cards, flags, ground vehicles, tickets etc. etc. is a neccessity. We added some typical "former Cyprus Airways"-elements like coulors and layout.

Thanks and happy Easter to you all, we are off line now. Olympic, thank you for passing through the link to Cyprus. We've already send Cyprus Airways' CEO an e-mail with our deepest concerns about their new livery, leaving the extra ordinary previous one behind...pitty, pitty!

Hi!

It seems that more and more the airline liveries are getting so broke and without imagination that I almost "cry"! The Cyprus one is the good exmaple of lack of imagination we have, we now have just two airliners manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, it's getting more and more difficult to see the diferences, both use just 2 and 4 engines airliners, no tri-jets anymore, now in the liveries it's getting also so worse, what do we expect in the future? White tails, white tails and white tails, this is getting too bad to be true!!!
