Thu Mar 28, 2002 9:53 pm

Most of the SAS a/c are named after vikings from the
asa-faith *about 900´th century*!Like Sigurd/Thore/Valle/.....and so on.
Sounds corny even to an scandinavier Smile/happy/getting dizzy)

I'm swedish, and I love the Viking names... I think it is a great tradition, and such details help SAS distinguish itself from the many bland carriers out there.

Well, I'm a Yank who has flown SAS quite a few times and I like the Viking names. There aren't a lot of countries outside Scandinavia that could mimic this, are there?

They named their 747 "Huge Viking"  Laugh out loud
Someday, we'll look back at this, laugh nervously, and then change the subject.

"Huge" is an actual Scandinavian name, its only in English that becomes an amusing coincidence...  Smile (or perhaps no coincidence)

Atleast the name "Huge" fitted with the 747, but today the names belongs to one of the smallest a/c in SAS fleet, Q400 LN-RDP  Smile.

The use of Viking names is a proud SAS tradition that goes back to the birth of the airline. Why on earth should we change it now??

This is the only airline that can use such names to show its Viking history. Sure beats the usual "City Of Billund" variety.
