Singapore Airlines Sells And Leases Back 2 Planes

Fri Mar 29, 2002 5:13 pm

According to REUTERS,

Singapore Airlines, Asia's largest carrier by market value, said that it would sell and lease back a 777-400 and 777-200ER to IEM AirFinance B.V.

Under the agreement, the latter company will buy and lease the aircraft back to SIA for 10 years.

Airlines do this to hedge against depreciation.

Meanwhile, Dow Jones is a tad more accurate saying that...

The Boeing planes, 747-400 and 777-200ER will be sold to the Dutch company and leased back by SIA over 10 years. Further details were not released.

As of March 28 2002, SIA has 91 aircraft and 11 cargo aircraft.

You mentioned a "777-400." Were you infact meaning a 747-400 or 777-300?

Asia's largest carrier by market value, wow! Never got to know that...

BTW, what's the B777-400? Or you mean B777-300?

Best Regards

No, that was the point!

Reuters said 777-400, Dow Jones said 747-400.
