SN Brussels Pilots (45hrs/months)

Sun Mar 31, 2002 10:22 pm

I heard that the SN Brussels Airlines pilots only have a duty roster of 45hrs a month.
For that, they get a full salary.
Loadfactor is only 50% on their flights.
Anybody to confirm this ?

I really thought it was looking good but if all this is true; i think they are just burning capital and the end would be around august 2003.
It's a pity as i would love to return to Belgium.

Hi Marg!

I don't think this is true. Loadfactors are above 50 pct and a further increase will be there from the moment the LH Africa operation starts...

According to the management the results are in line with the business plan forecasts

("According to the management the results are in line with the business plan forecasts")

That's what i mean.
They predicted a loss of 100.000.000€ on a capital of 175.000.000€

So the crystal ball says august 2003.
Sorry september 2003; loadfactor is 52%.

It's terrible; i would love to come back to Belgium.
I'll wait another year and do my ATPL in the meantime.

Loadfactors really don't matter - it's the yields that count. A 100% loadfactor when you're losing money on every seat will still lose you money - whereas a low load factor when you have very high yields may well make you money.

Crew rosters need to be 60 hours per month at least - ideally around 75 hours for optimum utilisation.

Can't remember how many hours SN-pilots are doing at the moment but I've heard that it is a lot ! Probably much more than 45/month.

Well, compared to what it used to be, cockpit crews and Pursers fly a lot less.
Previously when DAT was working for SABENA, there were a lot more flights for RJ85/100 & BAe 146. There were a lot of trainings for captains and new Pursers trained every month. Of course you cannot compare both periods. SNBA prefers flying less but with adapted schedules (no feeding market anymore in BRU think about it !!!), and aicrafts well loaded.
Regarding load factor: it improves every week and iit is even beyound expectations. SNBA isn't doing that bad compared to other carriers here in BRU. SNBA sells tickets at higer prices than SN but makes more money on it !!!
