I'm just back home after a superb w/e at LHR and LGW and saw several 777s - AAL, EK, MS, BA, UA - to name but a few. However, AA's registrations are virtually unreadable; I am sure I have seen many more than I have actually logged!
What I want to know is, is there any rule as to the readability of aircraft registrations? Surely there must be some requirement as to the ability of the aircraft's registration to be read clearly from a certain distance - if not under FAA regulations, then possibly ICAO?
I remember a few years back, EI had to increase the size of reggies on its Saab 340 fleet after the Irish authorities ticked it off over the size of the registration letters.
