Typical Crew On A 777 LONG-haul

Tue Apr 02, 2002 8:36 am

I was wondering how many crew would be needed for a 772 running a route like LAX-LIM-SCL-EZE the times (approx) are as follows:

LAX-LIM:8:35
LIM-SCL:3:20
SCL-EZE:1:55

There is about one hour of ground time in each stop
30J 255Y

Including pilot, FA, etc etc how many do you think?

Well, that exceeds 12 hours, so in the US, if it is possible at all, it would take 4 cockpit crew on the LAX-LIM sector, and work two cockpit crew MUCH more than the other two, and that way you could get by on two crew members on the LIM-SCL and the SCL-EZE. Most likely, theres a crew change after reaching LIM. F/A's vary airline to airline, but, eh, 16 for a triple seven on the LAX-LIM? (sorry, thats a guess.)

If those flights exceed 8 hours, there has to be at least one relief pilot. If it exceeds 12 hours, I think there has to be 2 relief pilots.

I'm not sure but I think this is how it works.

How DARE you even ask a question like that? What is your problem? I am 16 years old and I am still in high school. You want to know what type of a passenger wants this info me! I am simply a fan of aviation is there something sooo wrong about that? I will make sure that I alert the admin about this, you can foward this to anyone you want because I am a fan. I spot at LAX, I download seat maps etc...is there something wrong with that?

usually airlines using heavy crew only for very long non-stop sectors of 10-12+ hrs. in other case for normal scheduled operations there are crew change at some points. for the routing mentioned below I would expect that crew #1 will operate LAX-LIM, then goes for the rest at LIM, and crew #2 will join aircraft at LIM to operate LIM-SCL-EZE. that's the normal practice.

LanPeru,

I used to be a flight attendant on a similar route...

MIA-LIM-SCL-EZE

We would fly MIA- LIM and then rest (at the Sheraton)
and another crew would take over the rest of the way to EZE. The following day we would be the ones continuing to SCL and EZE.

We used to fly L1011s with 10 flight attendants and three cockpit crew members.

We can maybe get you into the summer Ambassador program if they have one at LAX or SNA. I will let you know what I find out.
