Is This True About Virgin's A340s?

Tue Apr 02, 2002 9:26 am

I was reading today in "Giant Jetliners" by Guy Norris and Mark Wagner and this caption was accompanied by a Virgin A340 pic:

"It is rumored that Richard Branson, the owner of Virgin Atlantics, negotiated a better deal for his A340s by betting the Airbus President, Jean Pierson, that he could remove that Frenchman's wristwatch without him knowing. Branson then apparently hypnotized Pierson and successfully removed his watch. The exact discount is unknown!"

Is this true? If so, cool!!

I highly doubt it. I'd be amazed though if it was true.

Just remember, Branson is a big joker, he get's up to a lot of funny things. Like flying around the world in a hot air ballon, well.....not that funny.

No I read that a few years ago in a magazine. It wouldn't surprise me at all, you are talking about Richard Branson.

Cheers,

I have had the pleasure of meeting Richard Branson once when I was younger, he is a great man. If this were true, it wouldn't surprise me at all!

Like everyone else, it would not surprise me to be true. But if it is it would be in one of his auto/biographies. It was not in "Loosing my Virginity". But Branson may not have had any airbusses then too.

Virgin Atlantic definitely had A340s when Losing My Virginity was published.

I have the exact same book and have read that caption many times, thinking about it.
