Did the Indonesian PM Sukarnoputri take a GA A330 on her trip to China and North Korea?

Well, I don't know which aircraft the PM took but when I have been at FNJ I saw a Russian IL62. For a official visit at FNJ I don't think it would be a problem to fly into with an A330 or any airline.

Was it last year when Albright visited the DPRK? How did she fly into FNJ? Am I wrong or did she travel into North Korea and flew into with an Air Force 757 for an official visit? I think even Clinton wanted or was thinking about to visit North Korea...

I'm not sure as which GA's aircraft was used....but as an Indonesian, I just want to clarify that we don't have any PM....It's President Megawati Soekarnoputri

Terima Kasih for clarification... Sorry for confusion. Didn't know that there is no PM in Indonesia.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Your welcome Swissgabe..... Actually Indonesia did have a President and a PM between 1945 and 1959, but that's way long before both of us were born.....

Anyway, a brief history about Indonesian Presidential planes.....

Various Garuda planes have served as "Air Force One". The second president, Suharto, preferred McDD planes. He used DC 8, DC 10 and MD 11 during his 32 years as the president. His succesor, Habibie, used B737-300 on his trip around the Southeast Asian countries, during his short presidential term. The last two presidents, Wahid and Megawati normaly use A330-300 for long haul visits.

Apart from the usual Garuda planes, the Air Force has a B707-320, generally used for VIP transport. As far as I can remember, the only president that ever used the B707 on presidential visit was Abdulrahman Wahid on the way to Canberra (year 2000?), but the plane had an engine failure, and had to land in Darwin. He continued the rest of the journey by GA A330-300.

Another plane worth mentioning is BAe 146, owned by Pelita Air Service (subsidiary of the state oil company, Pertamina). This particular plane was used infrequently as presidential transport during the short trips (mostly domestic).

Only Indonesia's founding father, Soekarno, had a special presidential fleet. He had a Lockheed Jetstar, an Ilyushin-14 (a gift from the Russian) and a Sikorsky S-58 (a personal gift from President Kennedy) for his personal disposal.

Just my own two cents...the picture shows the tail and right-wing winglet of a 747-400 !

So nobody knows? TV footage on BBC showed an A330 front section on the China leg of the trip.

Yes, that was Megawati. She had just visited North and South Korea. The next stop would have been India.

Southside Irish...our two teams are the White Sox and whoever plays the Cubs!
