Where Is A Good Place To Take Photos At Brussels?

Sat Sep 04, 1999 4:37 am

I would be very grateful for any information on where the best place to take photos at Brussels is.
If it is from outside the airport, please tell me how to get there using public transport.
Thanks.

One of the best places to take pictures is a little town in the neighbourhood of BRU. The town is called "Steenokkerzeel".
Go to the cargo department of BRU and then you have to follow the direction "Steenokkerzeel". This road is called "Haachtesesteenweg". You will pass the Belgian Military Airport of Melsbroek and you will also see the wreck of an Airbus A300 from TEA (Trans European Airways) used by the airport fire departement for emergency exercises. Detail : this aircraft is the oldest Airbus at the moment !
Go on the SECOND traffic light to the right and follow the direction to Steenokkerzeel. After you passed the centrum and the church you have to go through such kind of a tunnel. This tunnel is a part of the runway and you will see the landing aircrafts. After going through the tunnel you will see on your LEFT a building in which the political refugees lives. On the RIGHT site of this building is a small path. Follow this path to the end and you will have a GREAT view on the various landing aircrafts.
In the direct neighbourhood, there's also another brilliant place to spot planes, but that's too difficult to explain by way of email. Don't worry : ask it to various other aviation enthusiasts there. I'm convinced they will tell you how to go so you can have one of the days of your life ! :-)

I would go to the threshold of RWY 25L in Stenokerzeel. That's usually the runway in use for landing, it's the best place I can think of around the Brussels National Airport. The tunnel Boeing 737-300 was talking about goes under RWY 25L.
Enjoy the views.
