Whats The Deal With The KLM 744?

Wed Apr 03, 2002 6:02 pm

Have a look at the pic. The aircraft seems to be under its own power, can it be in service ??

Looks like it's going in for a maintenance / paint job at Schiphol.

The tail is already partly stripped. When it comes out it will be bright fresh blue as before

YES!!

Would you believe it...? The aircraft actually flew like this. Saw its take off at AMS for a five hour test flight last wednesday 27 Mar, indeed the same day this pic was taken. Call sign was KL 7021.
I was sitting along 01L from which it took off. It used about 2500 ft of runway to get airborne, it passed the end of the runway at 3000+ft!! How about that for a rate of climb...
A couple of hours later it landed at 06 and went straight to Schiphol-east [hangar alley].

On this pic you see it taxing out for departure 01L, taxing at taxiway Alpha, about to turn right to join taxiway Sierra.
