Don't I know it! I'm a customer service agent, or should I say, WAS, at PBI. I was furloughed this week, after 18 years of service! SAD!
PBI is going down to 10 mainline, 3 Express, on the April 8th schedule. Last year at this time, PBI had 23 mainline/MetroJet departures. It ain't over yet, either. Our sister station in FLL, is reducing to 16 flights in June, down from a peak of 36 flights last year, from 24, currently. And this is the clincher, TPA, once one of USAirways' largest stations, is being reduced to just 18 mainline departures in June. MCO service will also be dramatically curtailed. With all those airplanes being parked and none to replace them, since most of the Airbus deliveries have been deferred, with the exception of the remaining A321 orders, 9 airplanes total, I guess the inevitable has to happen. Total active fleet, 329 airplanes, as of April 1st. Less planes, less employees. Who'd ever think that I'd have to be put in this position, at this point in my career? Am I bitter? That answer is a resounding, YES!!
