United Airlines has posted its best on-time record since 1994. 86.4% of flights arrived 15 minutes within scheduled arrival time.
United Airlines was ranked 5th behind America West, Southwest, Continental and American. Delta Airlines fell to 9th and Northwest ranked 8th.

United's Customers Benefit as the Airline Continues to Improve Operational Performance

CHICAGO, April 2, 2002 – United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) today congratulated its employees after it was announced the airline has vaulted over many of its major competitors in several key areas in the most recent U.S. Department of Transportation Air Travel Consumer Report.
In the DOT's February report on the performance of the 10 biggest airlines, United posted some of its best results in years, particularly in on-time arrival, mishandled bags and number of flights cancelled.
For the month of February, 86.4 percent of United's flights arrived within the DOT's 14 minute window, the highest number since October 1994, when 90 percent of the airline's flights arrived on time. United's February mishandled bag rate of 3.2 per 1,000 North America customers was the lowest the company has had in 15 years.
"We are extremely proud of the hard work our employees have put in to improve United's operations. Their efforts are producing great performance and outstanding service," said Andy Studdert, United's executive vice president and chief operating officer. "In the last 12 months, United has consistently improved year-over-year, and now we're showing the industry and our customers that we are committed to being the best that we can be."
United also placed third in the rankings for fewest cancellations. Out of over 42,000 flights scheduled in February, United cancelled only 248 flights, or 0.6 percent of its operation.
