Airline Food

Thu Apr 04, 2002 1:23 pm

As we all know, it is common belief (here in the US anyways) that airline food is terrible. I don't believe this to be always true. I just wanted to know, does anybody here know which caterers (such as Dobbs or LSG Sky Chefs) serves the better meals? Also which airlines have the better meals?

Hacor makes meals for Air France and Korean Air in Los Angeles. Passengers seem to enjoy the food.

Dobbs is now GateGourmet. But I guess that it all depends on how much the airline pays

LSG SkyChefs serves more than 100 airlines worldwide and is definitely the most experienced caterer.
It's customers are among many others 'Singapore Airlines', 'Qatar' and 'Emirates', all airlines which are highly ranked in regards of airline food.

I tested most of their meals on numerous flights and on many visits to LSG plants and can tell you that they always go for the more expensive ingredients and I would say that 95% of their food tastes really good!

Of course it also depends of the price the airline is willing to pay, ranging from 3$ to more than 250$ per passenger.

LSG Sky Chefs and Gategourmet are the more renowned caterers around the world. However, I have realised that this does not always translate to tasty inflight meals...hygienic yes, tasty sometimes.

There's always a better way to fly...

I did some research on this matter for our surveys, and Lauda and Virgin Atlantic serve the best food.

Lauda is the best with the Do&Co catering.

In a few days I also have digital pictures on my site from catering from Lauda, American Airlines and Austrian Airlines.

the results from the best catering can be found on http://www.alasta.nl/index1.html
