Uncontained Engine Failure On F100, MD-80, Etc

Fri Apr 05, 2002 3:39 am

I know that some lives have been lost(at least two, I can only remember a TAM F100 ) due to uncontained engine failures in rear mounted engine aircraft. Have any measures been taken? Like shielding the fuselage or eliminating those nasty and noisy seats right next to the engine?

Not quite sure if this happens often, but here is another one...

Right JvW, it was precisely that Delta accident and the TAM that got me thinking. Anyone knows if there have been corrective measures issued so far?
