Around the world in First Class? Does "Good Deal" then categorized anything under $50,000?

There was an amazing "SPECIAL DEAL" on the Concorde recently, a one way ticket JFK-LHR for as little as 5000$. That's one way, for 5000$, and it's really called a "special deal".

I do an around the world about three times a year. You do it by airline alliances (Star Alliance or one world). If you are in the USA the fares for C are about $6,000.00 plus taxes. For F it is about $7,400.00. A suggestion: I use Star Alliance. To start in USA is most expensive. Start in Canada and use Air Canada and Star Alliance. C is about $4,200.00 and F is about $6,200.00. Often starting in other countries ( if u live outside USA is cheaper. South Africa and Australia are good. Best is Malaysia.) You can save alot by not starting in USA.

There are levels of miles traveled. For the above you must stay under 29,000 miles, head in the same direction, be gone 10 days and make 3 international stops. The more miles over 29,000 u take the higher the fare. You call the airlines you will use first and they make the arrangements.

If I were to fly from the USA to South Africa in C, it would be US$ 7,500.00 rt. I can do an around the wolrd (go on to Singapore and Australia) in F for the same amont.

There are "bucket shops" in London which can offer good deals.

Hope this helps.

I work for Korean Air, we have a pretty good deal on around the world with our Sky Team partners. E-mail me if you are interested.

I paid USD 5108.00 in equivalent malaysian currency for a CRWSTAR2 round the world on Staralliance, ex KUL, business class fare. It's got a 34,000 mile maximum, and did not include taxes, just as a guide. This was in January 2002 and it was the same price when i did it also in September 2001. The taxes were lower in the earlier trip though (I can't remember how much lower)

If you use someone go for star-alliance. There are so many routes on 15 (if you count Ansett still) airlines and if you want to get from say SIN-Hong Kong you're not forced to stop in NRT or SEL to get there as you would be if you were to travel with One-World or Sky Team.

Yeah, Star Alliance has excellent deals in all 3 classes and their offer is great. for around 6500 USD you have a maximum of 35000 Miles and I think with 15 stops possible and even backtracking is allowed...

Thai International often has good deals, and deals where you can combine First and Business Class travel. They may have something with partners, and they are also a part of Star Alliance. Also consider BA and their World Traveller Plus, which is pitched between economy and Business, and provides a reasonable option. You may be able to get a oneworld alliance RTW fare and upgrade to World Traveller Plus on every route where BA operates - I guess a good travel agent would know. But airlines are really not good at discounting premium fares!
Good Luck

Same with Oneworld. You can get some amazing deals in F and J. The 4 continent (3 stops each) usually comes in well below USD10,000 for F and J.

But that is just the base fare. You will end up paying hella taxes/landing fees/security surcharges etc.

There are several specialized sites for round-the-world air fares on the WWW. Try http://www.airbrokers.com/. You can play around and get instant quotes. For example, airbrokers quotes "Seattle - Hawaii - Auckland - overland to Christchurch - Sydney - Singapore - Bangkok - Hongkong - Seattle" for US$1899.00.

Here's another site with more infor on round-the-world trips: http://www.independenttraveler.com/resources/article.cfm?AID=9&category=6 Smile

A couple of years back, BA and SQ did a great deal out of South Africa in F with a Concorde add-on for the equivalent of just US$5,000! The routing on my last trip was:

JNB-CPT-LHR-EDI-LHR-ZRH-LHR-JFK-SIN-SUB-SIN-BKK-SIN-MRU-JNB

That lot accumulated enough FF miles for a freebie to the UK in J!

Most RTW fares require you to cross both oceans though. So you cant just dip on over to Asia/South Pacific and return. They are heavily restricted. You cannot fly the same routing twice and you cannot fly to the same city twice.

Check out the Oneworld RTW using QF and AA. Usually under USD 7K. You must continue in the same direction, meet min/max stay requirements, changes are not as flexible as normal fare, and there are $$$ penalties for excess mileage and more than three stopovers. Good deal for premium travel to middle east or India from USA.

Most RTW's regardless of alliance follow the same rules as governed by IATA. Fares are always subject to change with out notice, your fare is only guranteed once you have purchased your ticket (called GAF.) Some RTW's will allow non alliance partner to participate. The no. of seats are limited, as RTW premium travel does use a discount bucket in availability. (I.e. like frequent travel mile redemption tickets.) Check around, and use the websites recommended above to start your search.

Safe travels. Bf
