First CO Boeing 767-424(ER) At BRU

Mon Apr 08, 2002 1:45 am

Hi,

this morning, together with a bunch of other enthusiasts (including Sabena 690) I had the honor to witness the very first arrival of a Continental Boeing 767-424(ER) at Brussels National Airport (BRU/EBBR).

The aircraft that was used for this flight, was N76062 (c/n 29457), I think one of the newer CO Boeing 767-400's (delivered in March 2002), so the aircraft was still really clean. The flight (don't remember the flight number) was inbound from Newark.

Well, I must day, that I really enjoyed to see this aircraft over here at BRU. It was like 9:17 AM CET (7:17 AM GMT) and the morning sun really lit up the aircraft. I was also impressed by the beauty of the raked wingtips...

At about 11:25 AM CET, the aircraft departed (back to Newark I presume). We were able to see the aircraft taxi to RWY02, line up and take off from the same runway...so we had another good opportunity to enjoy this beautiful bird for a couple of minutes.

Just wanted to share this with you guys...can't wait to see this beauty again...this time I'll try to bring my photocamera with me  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

A question:

I was just checking the reg on the plane. It is indeed, like you mention Ivan, N76062.

I did a search, but it seems that there is no picture of it on the database of a.net.

Is that possible or what is happening here?

@Luchtzak:

Which reg had your Avro?
It is good possible that I have a picture of it!

If you give me the regs of the airplanes on which you was today, I will look than of I have pictures of it.

I saw both OO-DWC and OO-DWE, they are lovely  Love

About Continental:
Here are the first pictures of the plane at EBBR (I uploaded them all, the screeners have the honour to make a choice between them Big grin).
I must say, the quality is a bit less than expected, but some are great  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Sabena 690:

Nice pictures indeed. Althoug, I'd like to make one little remark: is it possible you resized them, because it seems that some lines aren't really sharp, but more like a composition of horizontal and/or vertical lines...But, next to that, nice picutres indeed...

Luchtzak:

Nice to hear that. So, guess you could say we met this morning, more or less  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

AirDD:

The weather was outstanding...This was one of the most fascinating days at BRU I've ever seen...too bad I had to go back to study  Sad

@Apuneger:

It is the first time that I resize them. I did that to 1024.
Do you think that the lines should be better without resizing them?
I did that because the most people say that they resize them on the photography forum.

Nice pictures Sabena. But why so many? It only makes the queue longer than neccesary. And at least 80 % of them will be kicked back as doubles. For example:
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/COB764e.jpg
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/COB764f.jpg
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/COB764g.jpg
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/COB764h.jpg

They all show the plane from the same angle, witrh virtually no difference except the plane coming closer and closer. Know what I mean?

Hey Peter,

Yes, but my intention was that the screeners could choose the best one. So...

Do you know more about my question of the resizing? I would like to have some help about that before I upload the rest to the queu.

Ivan,

It seems that we were very lucky yesterday,
The Continental flight of today is again a B762  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Out of topic, but since today, UA doubled it's flight to Brussels: 1 from San Francisco via London Heathrow, and one from San Diego via Washington.
Both operated with a B767-300.

Hi guys,
I got the information that Continental will fly regularly to BRU with their 764's during summertime, so more chances to see this bird...

Somebody mailed me with a foto of the CO 764 at BRU yesterday (picture taken from the ramp) and he thinks that this isn't the first time CO flies a 764 to BRU. Could this be true? Anyhow, we still saw a CO 764 at BRU  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Thank you guys for the comments  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I am a bit dissapointed in some pictures, it is I think because I resized them.
I will look to do that better if they are all rejected.

About the CO764: it is not the first time that this bird flew to Brussels.
After 09/11 has it done a very small amount of flights to EBBR.
Today it is again a B762.

Hey Air Orange,

Thanks!!

This shots are taken with an Olympus C2100UZ.
At the moment, I have some problems with the pictures because I don't have very good software for it, but I hope this will better soon.

Nice pictures, nice plane.
Ddi not get the chance to get to the airport but I took a picture last year in December at DUS a 767-400 of CO.
It is, according the reg., one of the latest deliveries.
Good work, BRU-spotters !!

The more that intl carriers fill in the BRU void, the less likely Belgian tax payers will have to foot the bill for any SABENA replacement!

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

By the way, I have an additional question:

Sunday, there was an Olympic Airways B737-400 scheduled from Athens.
We didn't see it, but at about the same time, there landed a B737-400 of Macedonian airlines.
Was this the OA, if yes, did they lease a B734 of Macedonian Airlines; if no, were did that OA go to?
