I have been to the Greensboro/High Point/Winson-Salem Triad Airport about 10 times and something has always struck me as being very odd. Instead of a usual gate numbering system such as starting at one they start higher. there are two councoruses, one is gates 40-51 and the other is 20-24. Does anyone know why this was done?

20-24 was done for the expected expansion of the North Concourse, which is still supposed to happen sometime in the near future, despite two open gates there.

40-51 was done to allow for that expansion.

And I think they started at 20 because of the gate numbering at the old terminal from the 80s. I think.... I was in elementary school then, so it is hard to remember.

We need more/better service.
