I have just realised that my use of the expression "kick in the arse" may be inappropriate and offensive. I should have said "kick in the goolies." Sorry!
But in the scheme of things, it's just one more shot in the one-upmanship war going on at the moment. Predatory pricing is going to be extremely difficult to prove, if past history is a guide. And these days, it's equally natural to see NZ operating SYD-LAX nonstop, and QF operating AKL-LAX nonstop.
The roo and kiwi are just playing their "mine is bigger than yours" game, and not for the first time. It will settle itself soon enough, I suspect.
I like both carriers, and think they both deserve their place in the pacific arena.
