Thu Apr 11, 2002 11:38 am

With the boosting of American at RDU, GSO has lost most of their flights:

AA to DTW - 2 flights a day.

That is all now

I don't have exact figures, but I think there are more Eagle flights from BOS.

The cities I know that are served are: YHZ, YQB, YUL, YYZ, BGR, Burlington, VT, JFK, DCA, RDU, ALB, ROC, BUF, CMH (I think), FLL, MIA, MCO, DFW, AUS (didn't they reïnstate this flight?), ORD, LAX, SAN (used to fly, and I believe they are restarting the flight), SJU, SFO, SEA.

I think they have somewhere between 150-200 flights a day.

At JFK, American and American Eagle operate about 100 departures a day, mainly transcontinental, Europe, Caribbean, Tokyo (from 04/18), Latin America, Canada, and domestic US.

At LGA, American is the third busiest carrier behind US Airways and Delta (not sure if Delta is still #1 or if it is now US Airways).

At EWR, American has flights from Terminal A to London/Heathrow, San Juan, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and to Boston (AE) and some other cities as well.

At HPN (White Plains) to ORD.

Mainline Domestic...
ATL: 5x
BDL: 1x
BNA: 1x
BOS: 5x
BWI: 2x
CLE: 1x
DCA: 7x
DEN: 2x
DFW: 10x
DTW: 1x (3x this fall)
EWR: 3x
IAD: 1x
IAH: 3x
JFK: 5x
LAX: 5x
LGA: 9x

ORD: 10x
PHL: 3x
RDU: 3x
SFO: 3x
SJU: 9x
STL: 4x (5x on Sa)
STT: 2x
TPA: 3x

Pre-9.11: All domestic AA service has been restored pre-9.11 except two flights to DCA, one flight to SEA, and one flight to SJC. In the past, AA has offered a varied amount of routes. Most significantly I remember AUS and SAN.

Future: There are rumours MCI, MSP, and PIT maybe coming online in the next 9 months, as well as the return of SEA and SJC. We'll see what happens, though MIA will be seeing a lot of domestic expansion between 2003 and 2006.

International Mainline:
ASU: 1x (via GRU)
AUA: 2x
BGI: 2x
BOG: 3x
BZE: 1x
CCS: 4x
CDG: 1x
CLO: 1x
CUN: 4x
CUR: 1x
GCM: 3x
GIG: 1x + 1 flight 5x a week
GRU: 2x
GUA: 3x
GYE: 1x (2x this fall)
KIN: 2x
LHR: 1x
LIM: 2x
LPB: 1x
LRM: 1x (2x during winter)
MAD: 1x
MAR: 1x
MBJ: 2x
MDE: 5x a week (daily this fall)
MEX: 3x
MGA: 2x
MVD: 1x (via EZE)
PAP: 3x (4x during winter)
PLS: 3x
POP: 2x
POS: 3x
PTY: 3x
SAL: 1x (+ one RT 5 days a week)
SAP: 1x
SCL: 1x (2x during Chilean summer)
SDQ: 3x
SJO: 3x
STI: 1x
STX: 1x
SXM: 2x
TGU: 1x
UIO: 2x (1x on Monday) (4x this fall)
VVI: 1x (via LPB)
YUL: 1x
YYZ: 2x

Pre-9.11: Only one route, MIA-ANU, was dropped pre-9.11. Capacity has actually increased to CUN, GCM, SDQ, and PLS and the only other flight not re-instated was the 5th daily to CCS. Two new cities, STI and MDE, are being added in June. PUJ and VLN come in the fall. BAQ was dropped this week, being replaced by nearby MDE, because the Colombian government will not allow AA to serve both.

Future: International is were AA is strongest at MIA, and expansion is endless throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as Europe.

Past: In the past, AA has served MTY, YVR, CZM and FRA.

American Eagle:
EYW: 5x
FPO: 5x
GGT: 1x
JAX: 6x
MCO: 3x
MHH: 1x
NAS: 16x
RSW: 5x
TPA: 3x

Pre-9.11: Before 9.11, AE offered 8x daily to MCO, 7x daily to TPA, and 2x daily to SAV (people are taking the train, it seems). Everything else remains the same.

Past: AE used to have a much nicer network out of Miami, including PBI, SRQ, APF, Marathon, St. Petersburg, and Brandenton. Also seasonal to IND and CMH which were popular but never returned because of weight restrictions.

Future: The future is limited, because MIA is in the worst location for regional feed. None the less, AE does plan 150 dailies by 2006. I have no idea were they will come from, but rumours are SAV will be back and new BHM service is possible.

FLL...
BOS: 2x
CCS: 5x a week
DFW: 6x
LAX: 2x
LGA: 3x
NAS: 6x (AE)
RDU: 4x (5x SaSu) (AE)
ORD: 5x
STL: 4x
SJU: 3x

Exectly what I had just wanted to write, Keesje!!

It would indeed be very nice to see AA coming to Amsterdam. Anybody know why not AMS? Or is there no market with all these KL/NW flights?

AA announced ORD-AMS in 1999, however it was canceled before it started. MIA-AMS is well served by two carriers, and ORD-AMS is served by four carriers. No DFW-AMS, though.

From Santiago, Chile American has one daily non stop flights to Miami served by a Boeing 777-200ER and one daily non stop flight to Dallas Ft. Worth with a Boeing 767-300ER.
American also offers a second flight to Miami in codeshare with it Oneworld partner Lan Chile. (Lan Chile uses the Boeing 767-300ER for Miami route).

Pensacola,FL (PNS)

Zero flights.

When AA had the RDU and BNA flight, we used to have AA even mainline. But when those hubs closed, so went PNS and a bunch of other southern cities.

Everywhere you look at my airport, you see a billion silver airplanes!

From Huntsville, Alabama

3 Total gates (all with jetways)

DFW
4 Total Flights
All mainline

ORD
2 Total Flights (down from 3 pre Sep11)
All AE

American is the second largest carrier in HSV (pax carried, not seats available). In the words of a former regional manager, Huntsville is a cash-cow for AA. (High yields, gov't and business travel.)

Interesting note- back in January, American Connection was showing availability for three flts to STL starting in June. They were only there for a few weeks, then were gone and haven't been seen since...

YOW.... AE just announced 2 RJs to ORD bringing your total up to 4 trips in June.

CMK10... HPN only has 6 trips to ORD.

MAH4546.... MCI, PIT and MSP are just that, rumors. AA will not have the aircraft to begin these routes without canceling other flying. Don't look for much domestic expansion in the next few years.

AluminumShower, I know they are just that, rumours, and I am not expecting anything of them. I would be surprised, though, if AA did not do much domestic expansion out of MIA in the next few years, especially as the new terminal gets closer to opening in "only" four years. Same at JFK.

By the way I finally got to see a 777 takeoff for the first time this past week (the NRT flight was delayed about 30 mins). Its an amazing sight and the sound of those RR engines buzzing was music to my ears. It was going hella slow compared to all the SW 737's that zip around. But I was  Smile.

PSU.DTW.SCE,

Just a small correction, AA uses only gates B7, B8, B11, and B12. Eagle right now is only using gate B15, but B14 is an Eagle gate also. Our friends at Delta are still B9 and B10- Last heard, they will not be moving to C concourse.

In AUS, AA uses Gates 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, and 24. Vanguard used to be at Gate 24 and TWA was at Gate 3. After the merge, AA took Gate 24 and Vanguard moved to Gate 3.

DFW - 11
ORD - 6
SJC - 3
STL - 3
HOU (continuing to LGA) - 3

Total daily departures (M-F) 26

Nonstop service to MIA came and left a long time ago, and nonstop service to BOS has come and gone twice now.

"Afitch:

Your addition leaves a bit to be desired!

You say there are 27 departures, but your count adds to 25. "

Thanks AIR757200,

I typed that not even thinking. I should check what I type again. Last time I came into DTW on AA we arrived at B11.
You guys still overnight mainline a/c in B14 right?

Btw....I'm curious, obviously Eagle has had success on the DTW-LGA flights since those went from 3x to 5x daily, especially considering NW runs 7x daily on A320's DC-9's, & 757's. Now has Eagle considered running a DTW-BOS ERJ to connect to the trans-Atlantics and Northeast regional destinations? I mean DTW-LGA can survive alone on O&D, couldn't BOS do the same with some help from connections.

Here it is with more detail.

ABQ-DFW 7 flights 6 x MD80 1 x ERJ
ABQ-ORD 2 flights all with MD80's
ABQ-STL 4 flights all with MD80's
ABQ-LAX 1 flight with a ERJ

Grand total of 14 flights with too many stinkin' MD80's.

At POS, Trinidad, AA has 2 daily 757-200 rotations to MIA and one Eagle ATR 72 service to SJU. An earlier post noted 3 MIA flights - unless things have changed I am not aware of that third flight. AE pulled out of TAB (Tobago) 2 years ago, citing poor load factors. Its one daily ATR 42 service to SJU was alternately nonstop and via St. Vincent (SVD).

PSU.DTW.SCE,

Yes, we still place an overnight at B14. Thursday night I flew in late from ORD and a S80 was parked. On a side note, both B11 and B12 (TWA) jetbridge interiors have been remodeled with new carpet and paint job (if you flew recently, you may have noticed).

As for AE, Boston has been a rumored city for many years from what I've heard. I wouldn't be surprised if down the road we did start BOS service with either AE or AA mainline.

Question: why eight flights a day from SJC to SNA? Is there a lot of premium pax traffic on this route?

AA flys to MCI a total of 24 daily and has four more that don't fly on one or more days a week (usually sat/sun). Flights are primarily to STL, DFW, and ORD, in that order. Rumors about LGA and LAX were quashed after Sept 11.
